4th Grade Homework Sheet
Dear Students and Parents,
Thank you for participating in a great Catholic Schools week. 4th grade had 100% participation in the Jog-A-Thon on Thursday. Those students that have all money from their pledge sheets turned in by Thursday, February 5th can have free dress on that day.
Next Friday there is a noon dismissal. We are also attending mass hosted by 2nd grade in the church @ 8:15am. Parents are welcome to join us.
Valentine Grams go on sale in the office for $1 each beginning on Tuesday, February 3rd.
Also, please note the homework schedule for this week. Most students are completing double Vocabulary assignments for the book we are in reading in class, The Trumpet of the Swans and the OCR story of the week. This will replace their daily reading logs for the week. There will be a vocabulary test next Friday on these twelve words. Please help your student to study for this test.

Writing Assignment Due Date Postponed to Monday

This week fourth grade students used 70minutes (two days worth of writing) of classtime to write a letter to President Obama. The assignment was to be finished in class today. However, some of the students did not finish their letters in class and asked if they could finish this assignment up at home. Therefore, the letters will be due in class on Monday, January 26th. (Any students that type up their letter and bring it attached to their handwritten copy will receive a bonus point.)

4th Grade Homework Sheet
Dear Students and Parents,
Progress Reports are coming home today. Please sign and return the progress report to school on Monday. These are not report cards, just a glimpse at students’ strengths and areas for improvement. Students can improve their grades by studying consistently throughout the rest of the trimester and turning in all daily and weekly homework. Many students also need to make corrections for failing grades on tests. If corrections are made then the failing grade will be replaced by a 75% grade. However, if students do not make corrections, the failing grade still stands.
Next week is Catholic Schools Week.(See the flyer in the student's homework folder) 4th grade will host the mass on Friday, January 30, 2009. Please join us in the church at 8:15am to take part in the celebration.
Finally, please be sure students have enough school supplies on a daily basis. 3 pencils sharpened daily will help keep distractions to a minimal and plenty of paper and index cards are always helpful!
It is a privilege to teach your children. You can always reach me at the school office 881-2416 or by contacting me at the following email address with any suggestions or questions:

4th Grade Homework Sheet
Dear Students and Parents,
Thank you to the parent volunteers that drove to the field trip. Without parent volunteers many of our field trips would not be possible.
Please refer to the homework sheet and note the change in the number of assignments due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Please have your child work on homework a little each day and review and sign each page of homework before they turn it in for credit.
Remember to have students get sponsors this week for next Friday’s Jog-A-Thon. This is a great opportunity for students to get some healthy exercise while raising money for our school. 100% of your Jog-A-Thon contributions can count toward your individual assessment fees for second trimester. Please return signed sponsor sheets so that every child can participate.
Enclosed is a copy of your child’s 2nd trimester Accelerated Reader Star Testing Result. Please review this sheet and encourage your child to read daily. If your child is still below the fourth grade reading level, please try to read with them everyday. Often times readers that read the best, often read the most. Please make sure your child is reading a book within their zone of proximal development. There are many books available in the OLA school library as well as our own 4th grade classroom library. To find AR books in their level use the AR book finder link on our school’s web site at www.olabruins.com. Having a parent model proper reading and spending time together in a book is one of the best methods for marked improvement.Progress Reports will be sent home with your child next Friday. These are not report cards, just a glimpse at the student’s progress at this point in the second trimester.
Finally, please be sure students have enough school supplies with them on a daily basis. 3 pencils sharpened daily will help keep distractions to a minimal and plenty of paper and index cards are always helpful!
