Fri. March 20th – Thurs. March 26th, 2009
4th Grade Homework Sheet
Dear Students and Parents,
First of all, thank you to Ms. Andrade and Ms. Christy for volunteering to help out with the Spell-A-Thon. Report Cards are coming home today. Please review your child’s progress in fourth grade. The students that have continued to work hard and turn in corrections for tests below 75% in any subject have done very well this past trimester. Learning from past mistakes and making corrections is a fundamental step in the learning process. Students that take advantage of this opportunity often are able to improve their scores as well as their ability to progress in their areas for growth.
Also, if your student is continuing to bring home daily homework not finished in class then they are not completing assignments in a timely manner. Please encourage them to talk less and work more everyday. Many students become easily distracted when it is time for them to practice the skills taught in the lesson and the classroom shifts from the teaching as a whole group to a student centered completion time. Reading Logs are due on Thursday, March 26th. They should be signed daily and include the pages read each day.
Lastly, tutoring continues on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for students struggling in the area of language arts and mathematics. It starts promptly at 7:15 and ends at 7:45am. Additionally, struggling students should be working with a parent daily on math facts, reading comprehension skills, and also reviewing their weekly homework before turning it in on Thursdays. Through the home and school working together, students will have a greater chance at academic success.
